About BioLaw

The mission of the BioLaw Ethics Institute is to work with legal, medical and scientific professionals in the fields of genetic, reproductive and other biological sciences, and the families and clients they serve, to anticipate and resolve ethical conflicts and foster the development of rational, compassionate policies that support strong, healthy families.

We work with

  • Doctors, scientists, hospitals and psychologists to understand current law,
  • Lawyers, judges, and policy makers to understand the emerging science,
  • All parties to understand and respect the ethical concerns of everyone involved

by gathering the leaders of each discipline to work together to understand and formulate forward-thinking responses to issues as they arise.

Mediation Services and Training

  • for Hospitals and clinics;
  • for Elder Care providers and support services;
  • for those delivering Special Education services;
  • for providers of Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART).

Training and Resources for Professionals

  • Webinars to build relationships across disciplines, discuss emerging issues and problem solve before new developments become new conflicts;
  • Online resources on science, law, ethics and policy developments;
  • Seminars, white papers, and discussions to highlight thinking in the vanguard of these rapidly evolving fields.

  • Closing the Circle: Initiating and improving communication and trust among ART professionals;
  • Providing guidance to Mediators seeking to resolve conflicts involving people with diminished capacity;
  • Policy research to support strategic decision-making and innovative thinking;
